Honu Hotel

For this project, I designed a logo, menu and series of hotel accessories for the fictional “Honu Hotel.” After deciding to locate this fictional hotel in Hawaii, I drew inspiration from the sea life for the logo and hotel name. The title “Honu” comes from honu turtles that are indigenous to the Hawaiian shores. These turtles allegedly live to around 60 - 80 years of age and, in Hawaiian culture, naturally symbolize stability and longevity. To reference this ocean inhabitant in the logo, I incorporated turtle fins to frame the hotel name. Above the fins, I drew a crown to emote a regal air for the hotel and also as a nod to the turtles’ representation of stability in Hawaiian cultures—stability being a quality that royalty are thought to bring to their people. The colour palette includes shades of blue, turquoise and green to emulate the beautiful Hawaiian ocean.
