SUITED UP
A podcast for aspiring entrepreneurs and artists
About My Podcast
In 2019 I noticed a problem: Talented graduates in business and art faculties didn’t know what steps to take next to move towards their dream jobs. I wanted to change this.
In each episode of the podcast, I interview entrepreneurs and creatives about how they got to where they are today in their careers. The goal is for folks who aspire to work in those same positions (or start their own businesses!) to be ‘suited up’ with the knowledge to get there after listening to an episode.
Seasons 1 & 2 of Suited Up are available for free wherever you listen to your podcasts. To listen to new episodes, subscribe to Suited Up on Patreon.

In this episode I am joined by Eve Laird and Sarah Cartwright from Eve’s Crackers. In 2016, Eve was suffering from eczema. Instead of using over-the-counter creams, she was determined to heal her skin through the power of food choices. Although Eve managed to clear her eczema over time, she was left with a problem: There were no indulgent, yet healthy snacks she could eat! So, she decided to take snack matters into her own hands and started experimenting at home using wholesome, real ingredients found in the pantry… so began Eve’s Crackers!
We discuss how Eve realized there was a market for her product, appearing on Dragon's Den, how they balance their work/family time, figuring out the packaging process and so much more.

In this episode I am joined by Anna Bennett from White Glove Social Media. Anna has been recognized as a Pinterest marketing expert by Pinterest themselves. In fact, she was part of their Elite Business Program designed to help businesses leverage the power of Pinterest marketing. Since 2012, she's been helping businesses and bloggers get more traffic from Pinterest to their website and blog. Her specialty niches include; hair and beauty, health and fitness, home decor, fashion, kids and parenting, travel, food and drink, art, DIY, and weddings. Anna offers four Pinterest Marketing online courses and her agency offers lots of services to support your social media growth and the development of your marketing strategy.
We discuss what social media to choose to use for your business, how to avoid entrepreneurial burnout, the importance of obtaining business awards and more.

Emily is the CEO and co-founder of Dansii, a dance support organization and networking platform. She had professionally trained for 10 years, performing and working around Europe, before transitioning to the business side of dance. Outside of her day to day Dansii work, Emily works on other dance related projects and loves to spend time outside exploring and connecting with nature. A frequent point of personal research for Emily is her heritage and culture. Emily is Kanien' kehá:ka and longs to connect with her ancestors' stories, hoping to one day bring them to life through dance.
Our conversation covered everything from diversity & inclusivity in the dance world, reminiscing about our days together dancing as students at Canada's National Ballet School, and leaders in the dance world like Artistic Director Mavis Staines who supported Dansii from day one.

Testimonial from Senior Communications Officer:
“Carly helped our team create a project plan in preparation of launching an alumni-focused podcast. She was instrumental in providing a tailored outline of requirements, including introducing our team to equipment needs, software recommendations and process guidance. Her consulting services helped us understand what would be required to move forward successfully, and her knowledge of the post-secondary landscape and diverse marketing tactics were key. As a result of working with Carly, we successfully launched a podcast [“Work It: A UVic Career Exploration Podcast”] that is now in its fourth year. I would absolutely recommend Carly as a podcast consultant for your next project.”
