In the last year, I worked as The Digital Marketing Strategist at Jillian Harris Design Inc. (JHD). In this role, I was responsible for devising creative strategies for growing our house of brands. An area of focus in my work was leading the copywriting and website marketing updates for jillianharris.com, which includes developing the blog calendar and creating and executing all blog posts. I was also responsible for executing content creation obligations for partnerships. This entails brainstorming marketing campaigns, executing long-form and short-form copy, developing scripts that meet partnership requirements (while staying true to our brand), and supporting on-set at photoshoots.
Writing
I have been a prolific writer and an avid reader my entire life. And, beginning in my teenage years, I enrolled in creative writing courses at my high school and at The University of British Columbia (UBC). That adoration for writing soared to new heights when I was accepted into The Creative Writing Program at The University of Victoria (UVic). There, I honed my craft in an array of genres: fiction, journalism, playwriting, creative non-fiction, screenplay and long-form novel writing. I have since worked in the marketing field as a writer and marketing strategist, which has encompassed everything from naming products to writing for email marketing, social media, websites, blogs & fashion & lifestyle campaigns.
Podcasting
In Fall 2019, I was inspired to create and host my own podcast called “Suited Up.” Suited Up answers career quandaries for prospective entrepreneurs and artists to fuel listeners with confidence and equip them with actionable next steps for their careers. Through this series, I have interviewed some of Canada’s leading entrepreneurs on their business strategies. Today, I help other businesses launch their dream podcast as a podcast consultant.
